Simply Blessed

Since it's the week of Thanksgiving and I'm feeling very thankful, I would like to share some things that I am very thankful for.
I am very thankful for my meals I get to have everyday!
I am also thankful for my best friends. These two have been in my life for a long time now, and they've really changed my life, in a wonderful way of course. We do everything together and I'm always hanging out with them every chance I get!

This is my family, they are always so supportive in everything I do and I'm glad I have such an amazing family in my life!

This is my youth group. We always keep each other on track and we always have so much fun with each other!

I am so thankful to have all these people in my life and all my wonderful blessing I receive everyday.

My love for baking!

Baking has always been one of my favorite things to do. From desserts to main courses I like to cook anything, but of course desserts are always my favorite.

On the 4th of July I baked a bunch of desserts for our party we had! Here are some pictures of the desserts I made.

Another one of my favorite things to bake is Jim'n Nicks Cheesey Biscuits! They are super delicious and I make them all the time! (A little hint: when putting the mix in the cupcake pan, use flour instead of cooking spray to line the pan.)

Me and my friend Riley W. love to bake together. Every time she comes over we always bake something. We always say we want to open a bakery and combine our two school names, Childersburg and Coosa Valley Academy, and call the bakery Chilacoosa Bakery!

I always bake desserts but I also like to bake other foods too! Like a King Ranch Chicken Casserole

And since it is close to Thanksgiving, two of my favorite things to cook for Thanksgiving is dressing and pumpkin pie!

Thank you for checking out my blog and I hope you try some of the amazing recipes I have linked in the blog!

Life of a Diabetic.

Living the life of a Diabetic can be very difficult. I have been a diabetic for 9 years now. I got diagnosed when I was 8 years old and now I am 17 years old.

Here is the definition of a diabetic, "A person with diabetes has a condition in which the quantity of glucose in the blood is too elevated (hyperglycemia). This is because the body either does not produce enough insulin, produces no insulin, or has cells that do not respond properly to the insulin the pancreas produces."

My oldest brother, Billy (23), also got diagnosed with diabetes when he was 8 also. My mom noticed some of my symptoms when I was at a baseball game. I kept getting a bunch of drinks and kept going to the bathroom. Two symptoms of a diabetic is frequent urination, and being really thirsty.

Here are more symptoms of a Type 1 Diabetic,

I am a type 1 diabetic. I started out with using shots everyday to give myself my insulin.

I am now using a insulin pump by Animas, it gives me insulin throughout the day. I also have to tell my pump what my blood sugar is and how many carbs I will be eating.

This is a Infusion Set. This is what connects my pump to my body. A little rubber tube stays inside me when I have it on. I have to change them every 3 to 4 days. They stick on like a bandage, and they pull off like one too.

I've had to learn the hard way that taking care of diabetes is very hard. If you don't take care of your diabetes it can lead to very dangerous outcomes. Some of these out comes cause troubles with your heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, nerves, gums, and teeth. So this means you could potentially lose some of your limbs and even your eye sight if you don't take care of it.

Another huge part of being diabetic is Ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is a serious diabetes complication where the body produces excess blood acids (ketones).

There are many dangerous things that go along with being a diabetic. I hope you take time and read through this website to learn more about the dangerous side to diabetes.

When your blood sugar gets low you have to eat at least 15 fast carbs to help bring your blood sugar up. There are many different things that can help do that. Some are made specially for diabetics, and others you can find in a everyday house hold. Here are some of those things,

If you take care of your diabetes you can live a full and healthy life. You can do everything everybody else does. You don't have to worry about missing out on something just because you have diabetes. You do, however, have to learn how to manage your activities with your blood sugar thought. That can be a difficult tasks at first but then you learn what all you need to do as an individual to help keep your diabetes under control.

FUGE Youth Camp!

Hello to my fellow bloggers! I'm Paige Davis and this is my first ever blog! We are all blogging now in my Media Design class. My cousin Anke blogs all the time and she's had so much fun with it, so I hope I come to enjoy it also.

My Blogs are going be about my life and my everyday adventures!
I spend a lot of time with my youth at Odena Baptist Church. We are all close in age and we are always going and doing something together. This summer we went to Tennessee for a youth church camp called FUGE, this is all of us praying before we got on the bus's to go to FUGE.

Once we got to Tennessee for the camp, we had so much fun. There was different games for trust exercises, leadership and guidance games. Our youth group was slip up into other groups so we could all meet new people and create new friendships that could last a lifetime. So here's some pictures of my group. (we were called the Crushers)

Our youth group also met up everyday for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also had game time, prayer time, and worship everyday with our own youth group.

One of the nights was a theme night and it was glow in the dark, so we all got our glow sticks and dressed up!!

So at the end of the week all the groups went against each other in a huge relay race called Mega Relay. We all had so much fun and got to grow closer as a youth group.

And this is my youth group leader while we were at Camp, she was truly amazing and inspirational.

We had FUGE at Carson-Newman University in Tennessee, here is a link to the colleges website.
